Please Urge Your Senators to Oppose the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act

Dear Friend,

Your action is needed to protect the sanctity of marriage and your rights as a voter. This Thursday, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee is set to vote on the "Respect for Marriage Act," which seeks to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). The act would be better named the (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act.

[          ]

[Go!]

Call your senators today and ask them to oppose and speak out against the "Respect for Marriage Act." The Capitol switchboard number is (202) 224-3121. Also, please send a letter or e-mail by entering your zip code in the box at your right or by clicking here.

This insidiously titled piece of legislation seeks to destroy the traditional definition of marriage and force states to recognize homosexual "marriages," or any other type of "marriages" that a single state decides to sanction.

We need to stand now if we are to protect our rights as Americans. As this effort shows, liberal elites will stop at nothing until they impose their values on every American home!

Remember, every time the issue of marriage has been put to the voters, they have decided, 31 out of 31 times, to protect marriage as the union between one man and one woman. "We the people" have forcefully rejected homosexual "marriages." You would think our elected officials would "respect" that.

But no, liberal elites, led by Senator Diane Feinstein (D-California), who introduced the legislation in the Senate, have chosen to ignore the people's votes and will do everything in their power to force you and me to recognize homosexual "marriages," and any other "marriages" they concoct.

One of their strategies is to marry in a state where homosexual "marriage" has been "legalized" and then go into the states that protect the traditional definition of marriage and force them to recognize their homosexual relationship. That is where DOMA made clear that:

No State, territory, or possession of the United States, or Indian tribe, shall be required to give effect to any public act, record, or judicial proceeding of any other State, territory, possession, or tribe respecting a relationship between persons of the same sex that is treated as a marriage under the laws of such other State, territory, possession, or tribe, or a right or claim arising from such relationship.

As you can see, DOMA is a big problem for these elitists. The (Dis)Respect for Marriage Act will give them the open pathway they seek to wreak havoc on our traditional values and finally destroy traditional marriage.

But you can do something about it! We need you to stand with us for God's model for marriage and the family.

Call your senators today and ask them to not only oppose this anti-family legislation, the "Respect for Marriage Act," but also ask them to speak out publicly against it. And most importantly, would you commit to pray with us on this effort?

Sincerely,

P.S. — Thank you for your willingness to stand in the gap and pray with us. Would you also prayerfully consider helping us financially, as we seek to protect and promote the Biblical values on which our freedom and liberty depend?
