Help Stop This Dangerous Maryland Law

You helped stop dangerous Peeping Tom/Gender Identity legislation last year. We need you to help stop it again!

Maryland Senate Bill 212 sponsored by Maryland State Senator Jamie Raskin of District 20 of Montgomery County is dangerous to women's safety and privacy in female restrooms, locker rooms and showers.

These so-called peeping Tom laws are billed as "nondiscrimination" laws for Gender Identity, but they endanger women by making it a right for confused males to enter the female restrooms. This bill will also allow cross-dressing men to enter women's bathrooms and dressing rooms even if they are sexually attracted to women as women will be unable to question or verify whether these individuals are complying with the law or not. The list of problems with these bills are endless.

5.  More Information BELOW.

The bill has an unworkable definition for GENDER IDENTITY which is defined as a "persistent, bona fide gender-related identity and the consistent, public manifestation of that identity in the Gender-Related appearance of an individual regardless of the individual's assigned sex at birth."

Just who will police this law to determine if a transgender has a 'bona fide" gender identity? Neither women nor employers will be able to question or verify whether these individuals are complying with the law or not. If women report someone who they perceive as a threat in the women's facility, the owner of the establishment will be unable to take action without fear of being sued. It will be difficult for police to confront a suspicious person because that would be considered harassment. This is an impossible situation for everyone.

A few more points. Gender Identity Disorder is very rare, less than 1 in 30,000 and is not immutable. Most children with Gender Identity Disorder can regain the recognition of their true gender. Transgender regret is a real phenomena. Surgery is destructive and hormones are dangerous and can lead to stroke and cancer. Individuals who have the surgery find that it doesn't solve their deeper problems. Individuals who have had the surgery still have increased risk of suicide, death and need for psychiatirc help.

Why should the Government be so out of touch with reality as to force confusion about gender on citizens and schoolchildren?

Please note that as a further mark of disrespect for woman's safety and rights, this years bill specifically INCLUDES public accommodations, despite the fact that last year's law which specifically excluded public accommodations failed.

THANKS FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE!!!!
