Posting by Gerard van den Aardweg about Spitzer

Sometime after his 2003 publications, I spoke with Dr. Spitzer on the
telephone, and asked him if he would continue his research and possibly
even try to help persons with SSA who needed a change-directed guide. His
response was more than definitive: he didn't want to have anything to do
any more with the issue of homosexuality. He had been attacked so violently
on account of his study that he had nearly broken down emotionally and he
could not go through this a second time. I understood hell had broken loose
against him. I thought: and this is "free" America, where a
good-intentioned, humane psychiatrist is stoned for having the courage to
publish a careful study with a very careful conclusion that merely calls
into question the gay dogma of irreversibly programmed homosexuality?
