We Do Exist!

…. and the Plan That You Never Find Out

At one point in the classic movie, Cool Hand Luke, the prison guard says to the inmate played by Paul Newman, “What we have here is a failure to communicate!”

It is the perfect line to describe what has happened in the culture regarding the muffled claims of so many - that they have found one measure or another of healing for their homosexuality. What’s going on is more than just a failure to communicate that message, however. There has been a well-crafted, deliberate agenda in place for over 30 years that has been designed to mislead the public into thinking that people with homosexual feelings are born that way, are incapable of ever changing and are just as happy and healthy as everyone else.

Most people believe such lies because they are all that they are ever allowed to hear in the media and all they are ever taught in the educational system. Even in many churches, they hear the same lies. They are a fiction that has taken root because of powerful forces that keep them in place, even though brief glimpses of reality (-e.g., scientific studies, medical statistics, the Word of God, etc) periodically threaten to break their spell. Sadly, however, no one wants to believe that the claims of the great and wonderful Wizard of Oz are a fake and a deception.

The purveyors of these lies control 95% of the media (including most of the secular conservative media) and are therefore able to suppress the truth whenever it tries to open our eyes. As if by magic, postings that question the lies simply disappear from Facebook, videos are removed from YouTube, apps are removed from the App store. No one is supposed to be able to see the truth. The “thought police” know what is best for us.

Sometimes there is an attempt to maintain a pretense of openness to the truth by the media. For example, they will invite a former homosexual on a talk show to tell his or her story, all so that the public will think that fairness is being preserved. But what the public is not allowed to see is the deception that goes on behind the scenes of those talk shows. Usually an ex-gay is invited onto a program and assured that there will be an honest and open discussion of the facts, with a single opponent to give the opposite view. What happens, however, is that when the ex-gay sits down on the set, he or she is almost always ambushed by multiple opponents. When the ex-gay speaks, the opponents are allowed to yell objections that drown out the point being made and are then given two to three times more time to trash the character and beliefs of the ex-gay. Should the former homosexual say something powerful and difficult to refute, that usually ends up on the cutting room floor, never to be seen by the public. During such tapings, the audience is almost always “stacked” with activists and other liberals so that it appears from audience reaction to the debate that the general public does not buy the claims of the former homosexual. The reality is, it’s all smoke and mirrors.

I went on one of the most watched daytime talk shows on television several years ago and was flabbergasted by what was done to me. Gone was the pretense of fairness. I was interviewed on camera for a day before the live show so that they could create a roll-in montage for our segment using my quotes and those of my opponent. During that day of taping, I was asked a multitude of questions by several producers who were sitting off-camera. On multiple occasions, they would stop me in mid-answer and tell me that they were not going to allow me say what I was saying and on several more occasions they actually told me what they wanted me to say instead. I was being too loving and too fair to my opponent and it was frustrating them. At one point, the lead producer exclaimed, “I want you to nail him!” (referring to the pro-gay homosexual guest who I would meet on the show the next day). They wanted me to be an angry bigoted Christian so that the audience would turn against me. When I refused to change my statements or say what they wanted me to say, they simply kept asking me the same questions over and over again and re-edited my words so that I actually appeared to be saying things I never said. Even I was shocked by the complete absence of even pretending to be fair. They were creating a program that was designed to make former homosexuals look bigoted and ridiculous and active homosexuals sympathetic saints. The truth was irrelevant to them.

The seeds of this kind of deception were sown many years ago, when Marshall Kirk & Erastus Pill wrote an article for the December 1984 issue of “Christopher Street” magazine. That was soon followed by a book by Kirk & Madsen called After the Ball which was a best-seller in the gay press. It was essentially a manifesto for how the gay activist population could use the media to overturn the prevailing cultural views on homosexuality. The strategy outlined in the article and book was brilliantly carried out and highly effective. Sadly, most of straight America was completely unaware that they were being snowed. And it remains piled high and deep even today.

In the article, Kirk and Pill wrote: “The gay community needs a plan to get tough on the values of the straight mainstream. It needs a plan that is as calculated and hard-hitting as the one it is accused of having by its enemies . . . as manipulative as the one its enemies themselves employ.” They later call their plan “propaganda”. They brag about many gay rights victories as being the result of “political payoffs by elected officials” that were the result of “electoral muscle and savvy backroom politicking”.

Their plan consisted of a campaign to “desensitize” the American public by having lots of people talk about homosexuality in a supportive way - so that the public will “view homosexuality with indifference instead of with keen emotion”. The idea is that homosexuality will “look normal if you are exposed to enough of it”. They suggest that the “the imagery of sex should be downplayed and gay rights should be reduced to an abstract social question”.

They strongly advise using the media, which they describe as being “a gateway into the private world of straights, through which a Trojan horse might be passed”. Need I remind you of how that turned out for the City of Troy?

They suggest using “talk to muddy the moral waters” and to “undermine the moral authority of homophobic churches by portraying them as antiquated backwaters, badly out of step with the times and with the latest findings of psychology”. Thus their assault on the APAs and other professional guilds - not using science to change policy, but rather protests and the use of closeted insider homosexuals to undermine the power structures.

The article goes on to suggest that their strategic agenda must “cast gays as victims in need of protection so that straights will be inclined by reflex to assume the role of protector” and to avoid the gay pride image “whenever it conflicts with the gay victim image”. They write: “The mainstream should be told that gays are victims of fate, in the sense that most never had a choice to accept or reject their sexual preferences” and that they are therefore “not morally blameworthy”. In another place they suggest: “portray gays as victims of society”.

They say that the homosexuals that are featured in their “public campaign” (their words) should be “decent and upright, appealing and admirable by straight standards . . . indistinguishable from the straights we’d like to reach”. Later they refer to their campaign as an “advertising technique”. And so they suggest: “Our campaign should not demand direct support for homosexual practices, but should instead take anti-discrimination as its theme”, lamenting that, “the gay community is weak and must manipulate the powers of the weak, including the play for sympathy”.

On a more ominous note, they go on to suggest that the campaign should “Make the victimizers look bad”. (Note that Bible-believing Christians are assumed to be the chief “victimizers”). “They must be vilified”, adding, “We intend to make the anti-gays look so nasty that average Americans will want to dissociate themselves from such types.” They suggest that the public be shown images of “bigoted southern ministers drooling with hysterical hatred to a degree that looks both comical and deranged”. They also suggest that we be portrayed as though in concert with “menacing punks, thugs and convicts speaking coolly about the ‘fags’ they have killed or would like to kill”. They even throw Nazis into the image pile, referring to their plan as “A campaign to vilify the victimizers . . . . with all America watching.”

It shouldn’t surprise anyone to learn that another part of this campaign suggests that activists should “cultivate backroom liaisons with broadcast companies and newsrooms” in order to make sure they receive the coverage that they want. They even suggest running gay candidates for public office who have no chance of winning so that just before the race they can pull out and endorse the candidate most likely to win, so as to make that candidate beholding to gay causes.

Finally, they talk about manipulating the media so that it portrays “warm and lovable grandma and grandpa type” gay characters “seated in homey surroundings” who appear family-affirming. They also suggest the creation of ads patterned after those of the Mormons to create a squeaky-clean image. They warn that the campaign should “stress gay stability, monogamy, commitment” (which statistics have proven is practically nonexistent in the gay community).

That was in 1984. It seems the public has bought the entire pack of lies - hook, line and sinker. What we have been experiencing is a well-designed, well-executed plan to deceive Americans into believing that evil is good and good is evil. In their own words, activist leaders have called their plan “calculated and hard-hitting”, “manipulative”, “propaganda”, and a “play for sympathy”. They refer to it as an “advertising technique” a “public campaign”, the result of “political payoffs by elected officials”, the product of “electoral muscle and savvy backroom politicking”, the cultivation of “backroom liaisons with broadcast companies and newsrooms”, and the fruit of using “talk to muddy the moral waters”. At the launch of this campaign, they boasted about how they would “vilify” biblical Christians and make them look “bigoted”, “hysterically hateful”, “nasty” and “deranged”. Yet despite the fact that the evidence for their subterfuge is in print for everyone to see, activists today publicly and vehemently deny that they have ever had a strategy such as this.

Makes you kinda go “Hmmmmm”.

The government has also been co-opted by activists to invent a new category of crime called a “hate crime” where the supposed thoughts of the person while committing a crime multiplies the penalty involved. And so, while George Orwell turns in his grave, a new gang of “thought police” have emerged onto the scene, corralled by self-righteous activists looking for “pay-back” over perceived injustices from the past. Having achieved the invention of such laws, it was simple enough to twist them so that they can be applied to the mere teaching of what the Bible says about the subject. One no longer has to commit an actual crime in some countries or media venues. One only has to teach biblical moral principles. Sheer insanity! Yet the inmates have been given free reign to the asylum.

So what do we do in response to this creation of fictional crimes and the great deception that has been swallowed by a culture that is steeped in a series of its own gigantic moral compromises?

Tell the truth! Speak the truth whether people listen or not.

The simple fact is, we do exist! People who have been healed of the brokenness that causes homosexual confusion do exist!

For all the lack of awareness that there is of our existence, we might as well be the Armenians whose genocide at the hands of the Turks has been denied for almost a century. But the fact of our existence puts the lie to the claim that homosexuality is an unalterable, innate and natural condition. Our existence undermines the agenda that would force compliance to the gay narrative and all the legal consequences that proceed from it.

If our existence offends them, then they are the ones who are going to have to get over it. To slightly change an old gay slogan, “We’re here. We used to be queer. Get over it!”

Countless people who have suffered from homosexual inclinations to one degree or another have found healing and transformation through Jesus Christ. It’s difficult to estimate the numbers, but surely it is in the millions when you consider the span of time and the varying degrees of aberrant attraction for which people have found healing.

Many former homosexuals have experienced an emergence of their previously damaged or unformed heterosexuality during their healing process and now live fully heterosexual lives. They have spouses and children and grandchildren. They do not see themselves as homosexual and do not act on any memories of past homosexual pleasures. Others have forsaken homosexual behavior in order to begin a walk with the Lord that will take them through a series of healings, where the roots of their brokenness are revealed and healed. The length and completeness of that process is different for everyone, but they have made a commitment to the Lord not to live in rebellion against His creative plan for human sexuality, whether He fully heals them or not. He has truly become their Lord and the focus of their lives.

Yet, still others remain unaware that the causes of their sinful tendencies can be uncovered and healed by God. They still believe the lies of this culture and do not yet see the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. It is vitally important that we tell them the truth so that they have the choice of eternal life and the freedom that comes from a healing of their brokenness.

Perhaps my personal witness to change can be of some help.

I have been changed in many and varied ways over the past 32 years after seeking the Lord at the age of 29 to deliver me from a bondage to homosexuality, pornography and other sexually addictive behaviors. After 10 years of active involvement in the “anything but gay” homosexual lifestyle, Jesus Christ revealed Himself to me and has set me free from what statistics show to be a deathstyle lain upon the foundations of profound brokenness.

My identity has been completely transformed and I see myself as the heterosexual male that God had always created me to be.

My behavior has completely changed. As a result of God’s healing and transforming power, I have not engaged in homosexual acts for over 32 years and have absolutely no desire to do so ever again. The behaviors that accompanied my gay life and that helped me cope with the insanity of it all (-e.g., massive drug addiction, alcoholism, sex addiction, voyeurism, exhibitionism, the desire to take my life and the dangerous risks to lose it, etc.) have all ceased. The loneliness and depression that shadowed me throughout my years in the lifestyle have departed, as I found my true love in God Himself.

My homosexual attractions have gradually lost their power as I have experienced healing of the brokenness that created them. Their intensity has diminished considerably. They no longer define me and no longer drive my decisions. They come and go in the same manner as faded temptations to smoke cigarettes, marijuana, look at porn or any other behavior that once brought me brief moments of pleasure - temptations that I also reject because I have found a love far greater than those deadly, false loves and a power in Christ that keeps me from falling as I abide in Him (Jude 24).

The lack of a strong sense of my male identity has been healed by the very words of God the Father spoken to me in worship of Him: “You are My son and I love you.”

My natural heterosexuality has slowly emerged and replaced the false homosexual identity that once dominated my thoughts.

The fear of woman has disappeared. The idolatry of men has been renounced and replaced by a devotion to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.

I no longer allow homosexual fantasies to dwell in my mind and no longer use masturbation to reinvigorate old memories of past pleasures. When immoral thoughts assault me, I renounce any affection that I may have had with them and call upon the Lord to quench them and to rewire my thought processes so that they are hostile to such immorality.

A new network of ministries to homosexuals has recently been founded called Restored Hope Network (www.RestoredHopeNetwork.com) - created to return ministry to homosexuals and other sexually broken people to the biblical model for change. “Such were some of you!” the Bible says (1 Cor 6:11).

RHN exists to bring back biblical fidelity to ministry to sexually broken people. The Bible teaches, for example, that those who refuse to repent will not enter the kingdom of God, no matter what claims they may make on Jesus (Mt 7:21-23; Lk 13:3). It also teaches that believers need to continue to repent of ongoing sins (1 Jn 1:9) in order to be in right relationship with God.

It has rent my heart to see once sound ministries departing from the faith and no longer believing and teaching these things. And it has horrified me even further to hear of young people coming to ex-gay ministries claiming that they do not need to repent of homosexual behavior in order to see the kingdom of heaven, and wives deciding to give up on the healing process of their gay husbands because they are being told that they will never change.

Let God be true and every man a liar!”

The truth is that Jesus Christ can set anyone free from anything and homosexual brokenness is not an exception. Let’s renew our commitment to believe in the power of God’s grace and love to transform the affections of the heart and the habits of the body. He is Lord of all!
